Visibility Audit

The Visibility Audit aims to give a representative view of share of space, promotions and signage within licensed premises.

Features

The sample size of 5,500 outlets including pubs, nightclubs, hotels, restaurants, sports and social clubs is a representation of the UK On-Trade.

The primary data collected for the Visibility Audit are:

  • brand facings e.g. Bacardi Breezer
  • back bar displays e.g. Budweiser bottle pyramid
  • number of fridges, count of individual fridges
  • number of shelves per fridge, total shelves in a fridge
  • ambient shelf, products displayed/stored

This will enable the calculation of percentage share of facing by drinks category or brand. Also, to observe which suppliers get their products stocked in the lucrative top left of units, this has been identified as the prime position for impulse sales and the additional display impacts of the back bar displays.

Additionally we are collecting drinks promotion, of which 4 types have been identified:

  • Price, for example half price spirits
  • Multi-buy, for example 4 bottles for the price of 3
  • Gift, for example buy 5 and receive a free t-shirt
  • Multiple, which is where there are more than one of the above promotions running on a brand

Finally we are observing Point of sale promotions. These have been categorised by their functional use or permanent presence.
