Paul Heaton Pedals off on Pub-Supporting Tour

Paul Heaton is taking to the cycle path to support the British pub. The former Beautiful South and Housemartin singer is staging intimate gigs in a number of hostelries on his ‘Pedals and Beer Pumps Tour’.

The solo tour encompasses 1,000 miles and includes 16 venues. Mr Heaton, who is now based in the North West, will start his tour tomorrow (5th May) at The Flying Horse, Rochdale and will round it off at The Southern, Chorlton on 23rd May.

Beautiful South songs such as ‘Look What I Found in My Beer’ and ‘Old Red Eyes is Back’ alluded to the harmful effects of excessive drinking and Paul Heaton told the Manchester Evening News that some years ago, he had to ‘tidy up his act’ as far as booze was concerned. However he believes that the history and diversity of pubs makes them essential to community life. The singer will be staying over-night in the pubs where he plays.
