Pernod Ricard stays on course with help of Asian Dynamism

Pernod Ricard said that its first half Fiscal Year results, for the six months ending 31 December 2009, were in line with its expectations.

Pernod’s decline in the second quarter was 2%, compared to a 4% decline in the first quarter. Asia was a good region for the global drinks giant. Pernod said that it had ‘confirmed dynamism’ in China and India, combined with the first signs of recovery in South Korea. Business in Europe ‘remained difficult’ but Eastern Europe was enjoying an improving trend. US sales continued to be negatively impacted by the recent economic problems. Overall, spirits sales performed better than wine and champagne.

Pernod will release its first half 09/10 Fiscal Year results on 18th February.
