Hydes brings the circus to the pub

Hydes brewery is hoping that its latest roll-up of beers will be a runaway success. The Manchester company is using a circus theme for its new beers this year.

The line-up of beers kicks off with Heads & Tails, 4.6 abv. Each beer features an amusing and colourful pump-clip. Heads & Tails features a lion-tameing cellarman holding his beer in one hand, as he holds the lion’s mouth open with the other. Other illustrations will include a trapeze artist, a tightrope walker, ringmaster, human cannonball and a performing elephant.

Hydes points out that cask beer has been a strong performer amidst troubled times for the industry. Its own 2009 seasonal beer range helped it to achieve a 14% increase in sales.

The ‘Showcase of Fine Beers’ will see a different beer being released every two months and the full list includes:

Jan – Feb 2010 Heads & Tails - ABV 4.6%
Mar – Apr 2010 Over a Barrel - ABV 4.1%
May – Jun 2010 Tightrope - ABV 4.3%
Jul – Aug 2010 Loose Cannon - ABV 4%
Sep – Oct 2010 Ringmaster - ABV 4.4%
Nov – Dec 2010 High Flyer - ABV 4.8%

Hydes has been a family business since 1863. Its theme last year was great discoverers and it had Creature Comforts as its theme in 2008.
