Budvar gives yeast lager a limitedUK release

Budvar has chosen a London SW pub, with a reputation for an extensive beer range, as the lucky host of its yeast lager’s UK debut.

The White Horse, in Parson's Green, will be the location for the unpasteurised lager to be tasted by discenerning drinkers over the August Bank Holiday weekend. The rare lager is only currently available in 50 nominated Czechoslovakian outlets. Budvar will only be giving special approval to additional outlets to stock the lager, which has a short shelf life and requires careful storage.

Adam Broz is currently the brewmaster at the Budweiser Budvar brewery in the Czech Republic, which was founded in Ceské Budejovice in 1895. His predecessor Josef Tolar held the post for 24 years. Mr Broz has already overseen the move from manual to automated production in the brewhouse. The main exported version of Budvar is 5% ABV and is cold-conditioned for 90 days. Budvar has already introduced some new brands in recent years including Budvar Super Strong, Dark, a black lager, and Pardál (Panther), a slightly darker and sweeter version of the lager. In the UK, Budvar is a key sponsor of the Cheltenham arts and science festivals.
