CGA Strategy is the UK's leading market intelligence consultancy specialising within the £24 billion 'on trade' licensed sector (pubs, clubs, bars etc). Operating solely within this fascinating industry, our clients make up the who's who list of major drinks producers including all beer, cider, wine and spirits producers as well as all leading retailers and pub companies.

Following a recent strategic partnership with the world's largest market research company, we are looking for ambitious, talented people to play critical roles in the next stage of our development, and ultimately to be the future managers and directors of our rapidly growing business.

The Role

Our success is founded on 'Outlet Index', unquestionably the most accurate and comprehensive database of the 137,000 premises which make up the UK licensed trade. This important role will be responsible for ensuring that Outlet Index continues to be the best database of its type in the UK and continually improves, both in size and accuracy.

  • Reporting to the Production Director, and managing at least two Research/Database analysts you will own the day to day responsibility for CGA's Outlet Index.
  • Initially you will gain a detailed understanding of the full CGA product portfolio, our data sources, our IT systems and ultimately how we use class leading data to help clients improve business performance.
  • You will rapidly become the Outlet Index expert, and the 'go to' person for any database queries.
  • Keen to challenge the status quo, you will continually look to improve how the database is managed and the manner in which the data is collected and delivered to the broader business. vYou will enjoy managing people, and will embrace the opportunity to mentor, lead and performance manage your team to encourage their development and progression.

The Person

  • From a database maintenance (not an IT specialist) background, you will be commercially savvy, determined and have the tenacity to stick with issues until they are resolved.
  • IT literate, ideally with Microsoft Access skills.
  • You will have a background of managing large databases as either a team leader or you will be a senior member of a team looking for your first management position.
  • Detail focussed but able to see the bigger, more commercial implications of your role.
  • Ambitious, hard working and up for a challenge.
